For our family to be firmly planted we need to delight ourselves in the Lord.
We want our roots to run deep. We want our children to follow the path but it starts with us.
Let this be the prayer of your heart for your marriage and your family.
We all know people who are married even if we are not married we can pray this over those we love.
Pray that your life would be an example of someone who delights in the Lord. Pray that you will be firmly planted so that the storms of life can’t uproot you.
Lord, may we delight in You and mediate on Your Word and Your law day and night. When we do this, our marriage and our family will be like a tree planted by the streams of water, which yield fruit in it’s season
and our leaves will not wither.
Psalms 1:1-3
Blessed [fortunate, prosperous, and favored by God] is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked [following their advice and example],
Nor stand in the path of sinners,
Nor sit [down to rest] in the seat of scoffers (ridiculers).
2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord,
And on His law [His precepts and teachings] he [habitually] meditates day and night.
3 And he will be like a tree firmly planted [and fed] by streams of water,
Which yields its fruit in its season;
Its leaf does not wither;
And in whatever he does, he prospers [and comes to maturity].
