What is your motive when you do things for others?

What is your motive when you do things for others? Is it for your own satisfaction or recognition? When you do things for others it should be from a truly selfless place.

Sometimes in our relationships with others we are only worried about us and our needs. We need to find ways to put others first. When we live our lives like Jesus that becomes one of our characteristics.

As we deal with people in the following days ask the Lord to help you put others first. Don’t think about what they can do for you or how they can pay you back. Ask the Lord how you can be a blessing in their life.

Lord Help us not do anything out of selfish ambition. Give us humble hearts toward one another. Not looking at one’s own interests but the interest of our spouse. Give us the mind of Christ.

Philippians 2:3-7

3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit.Rather, in humility value others above yourselves,
4 not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.
5 In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:
6 Who, being in very nature God,
    did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;
7 rather, he made himself nothing
    by taking the very nature of a servant,being made in human likeness.
