Day 2 – Biscuits & Gravy Devotional
I can’t believe this world we live in. We are a godless place we don’t make church a priority. We don’t make prayer a priority. We don’t have altars in our homes. We don’t read the Bible to our kids. We let their electronics entertain them. We allow videos on the internet to parent our kids.
Christians, it is time we put our foot down. Draw a line in the sand and “say as for me, and my house, we will serve the Lord,”
As a mom and a grandma, I want my kids to serve the Lord and my grandkids to serve the Lord. I have four natural children and I have seven amazing bonus children so that’s 11, we are larger than the Brady Bunch, but I love each one of them and I pray for them.
We have some that are away, and they are estranged from the Lord, but I believe that as they were trained when they were younger, they will return to their first love of Jesus. I believe as mothers and as women we are called, we are anointed to teach our children about the things of God.
We need to minister to their spirits as they grow. So many times, the culture we live in does not honor, or cherish the role of a mother. Motherhood is a very important role in the household. It is imperative that moms realize they have the greatest job of all; training and teaching their children not just natural and physical things, but spiritual things.
We should want to equip our children with all the tools available. Teach your children to pray, memorize scripture these are the things that will keep them during these hard days these confusing times.
We need to teach them that the church isn’t an option. Church should be a priority, shame on you if other stuff is more important in your home than church. I completely get it. My kids played baseball, did cheerleading, karate, choir, drama, robotics but we didn’t miss church. So many times, we would hit church in practice clothes, and we would leave church and head to a game as soon as it was over; but church was a priority, because our relationship with God should be the most important real relationship that we have.
I pray for parents today that are raising young kids. You are competing with the world that is trying to grow your kids up, sexualize everything, taking away their innocence. More than ever God needs to be the Lord of our home, not just something we talk about at church.
Reflection: Have you said “Enough is enough Satan! You can’t have my children”? Today is the day! Declare it, speak it out loud!
If we can pray for you in any way, please let us know!
