Fruit killers will be our study this week.
As Christian’s we have to show these fruit in our lives.
I heard a message about the fruit of the spirit and the Pastor shared that these are fruit not fruits.
We don’t just pick and choose which fruit we will have in our lives.
So we’re gonna look at what kills the fruit in our lives.
Galatians 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
What are fruit killers?
Hate kills love. How can we show the love of God if we hate our neighbors?
This is such a hot topic in our world today. Here is my answer to that. I can love the person but hate their sin. I can love them and share Jesus with them. Jesus ate with sinners and they changed. Today we water down the Gospel to be politically correct. Jesus changed the sinner they didn’t change Him.
Mark 12:30-31
…30Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ 31The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ No other commandment is greater than these.”
The second greatest commandment is to love your neighbor as yourself.
I think a lot of us struggle with loving people who aren’t like us, or have hurt us.
Don’t let hate and unforgiveness kill the Godly fruit growing in your life.
Love is a fruit that God wants to grow in our life. It is easy for us to love people who love us back. We can love our family and friends and give them anything we have if they are in need. We find it harder to love those not in our circle. We find it even harder to love those who are unloveable. God told us to go into the highways and compel them to come in. We sometimes forget that if it wasn’t for Gods grace and mercy that could very well be us.
Take some time to reflect on your heart:
Do you have hate or unforgiveness?
Does it stem from a hurt ?
Does it stem from abuse?
Do you blame yourself?
Let these things go. Write them down on a sheet of paper, saying I forgive or Inlet go. Then burn it or throw it away. Then truly surrender all these things over to the Lord. When you do release them you will feel peace and freedom.
Forgiveness isn’t saying things didn’t happen; it is saying that you will not allow the hurt to keep you from God’s very best in life.
Let the fruit of love that God has planted in your life grow.
Let the love of Jesus pour out to all those around you.
When the love of God overtakes your life you are never the same. You have compassion for others around you.
