My child will love the Lord God will all their heart. My child’s heart will be a treasure of goodness and purity and Christ will dwell in my child’s heart by faith.
Deuteronomy 6:5 NIV
[5] Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.
Instructs us to love the Lord with all your heart.
Luke 6:43-45 NIV
[43] “No good tree bears bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. [44] Each tree is recognized by its own fruit. People do not pick figs from thornbushes, or grapes from briers. [45] A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.
We are the fruit we produce. Think about that you don’t get an apple from a grapevine. If you never fill your heart with the Word of God, how can you expect to produce good fruit?
Everything we speak flows from our heart. Think about that for just a moment. When we spew out hateful words that’s coming from our heart. We need to allow the Lord to dig in those ugly places and take over. I find in my own life that the more I spend time in prayer and the Word the kinder I am to others.
I want my fruit to be good fruit so my heart has to be in tune with Jesus.
Ephesians 3:17-18 NIV
[17] so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, [18] may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ,
Jesus makes His home in our hearts. As we learn to love Jesus our roots will grow deep in the Love of God.
The prayer of my heart is that I love like Jesus did. I teach my children and my grandchildren that the words they speak are powerful. I pray they learn to speak life to others. Think about your words, are you constantly putting others down? Are you always negative? Change the way you speak over your own situation.
Ask God to control your tongue.
Our children pick up a lot of things from us. I pray they pick up encouragement and prayer from me. I pray my grandchildren will say nana didn’t cuss or ever put me down. She was always encouraging me and praying for me.
That should be the cry of our heart. We may have failed with our children but there is still a generation that needs us to learn to control our speech.
