Nehemiah 9
Assembled to repent – they realized they were sinners and needed his forgiveness. They had tried too many times to make things happen on their own, yet every time they did it created more problems for them. God always provided for them, maybe not the way they wanted but He always came through. Even in the wilderness he fed them, their clothes never wore out and their feet didn’t swell.
Assembled with fasting – sometimes we just have to humble ourselves and be willing to sacrifice to see a move of God. When have gone to long without a true revival a true outpouring of the Spirit. God is ready He is just waiting for us to invite Him in our homes and churches.
Assembled to separate themselves – sometimes there is a season of separation from everyone so you will draw near to Him. Israel had to get away from all those other nations to remove their sinful influence over them. So the next time God moves you from a situation or removes people from your life trust that it is part of the plan. Not everyone can go with you into your promise land.
Assembled to worship God with prayer and praise – they honored God with their prayer and praise. They gave God the worship He was due. They set their affection on Him. It wasn’t a performance or a show it was true worship from the heart. We need to get back to that. It’s not entertainment when we are in worship at church. It is time in His presence. It’s not about how great the sound or how good they look it is about the anointing that breaks the chains.
Prayer of repentance – they asked for forgiveness for all the times they failed. They messed up a lot but they realized they needed his mercy and grace to continue. They knew they didn’t deserve His compassion and humbled themselves to show their gratitude. We need to show God our gratitude for all He does for us. Stop taking Him for granted like He is just a big piggy bank. He loves doing good things for His children yet all He ask in return is for an obedient heart and a life fully surrendered.
Prayer of remembrance – they reminded God of His faithfulness and His promises to Abraham. Remind God what He has promised you. Speak the Word over your situation. God is faithful to fulfill His promises.
Prayer
Reminding God his gracious He was during their rebellion – they were thankful that God didn’t give them what they deserved. I am more than thankful that God had mercy on me and restored my life. There’s hope after we mess up. There is forgiveness for sin. Don’t let the enemy tell you it’s over. The blood of Jesus covers a multitude of sin.
Prayer of intervention – they asked God to intervene in their behalf. Ask God to move for your family. Pray over your children that are away from Him. Pray for God to lead you and guide your steps. Sometimes He turns our steps completely around from what we plan, yet when he does that you see how much better your life is when you follow Him.
Pray for our nation we need an outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
Pray for our children they need to see miracles.
