Today’s gift is Wisdom.
What is wisdom? It is the practical application of God’s truth to a specific situation. Wisdom is knowing what God wants you to do and then doing it. James 1:5
Wisdom is applying knowledge correctly.
That is a powerful truth that we fail to use so many times!
I am going to break down wisdom into 4 ways.
1 We need to fear God. What does that mean? It means to have a reverence for God. A respect for His Presence. Knowing that he is God and He alone should be worshipped. Understanding who God is and showing Him the Honor due Him is our beginning of wisdom.
Proverbs 9:10 – The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
2 Desire Wisdom. Ask God for his direction and guidance. When you ask He will guide you and lead you. Trust Him to guide you to the plan He has for you.
Proverbs 2:2-5 – turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding – indeed, if you call out for insight and cray aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the Lord.
3 Pray for Wisdom – God will give you wisdom. God gives you what is best for you.
Remember that sometimes it doesn’t happen the way you think that it should. Trust that God’s way is best and His plan for you far better than anything you could do.
James 1:5 – If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.
4 Study the Word of God. The Word is life for you. As you study begin to dig into the scriptures. This day and time we must study and learn the Word for ourselves.
Psalms 19:7 – The law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul. The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple.
Godly wisdom comes as you grow in the Lord. Although we don’t understand it all, we should continually be growing. There are passages I have read so many times yet every time i see something new or different.
We have not arrived to the place of complete understanding and knowledge. As a believer, you shouldn’t be the same person you were a year ago. If you are, check your heart! Every day you should grow. You learn as you grow to handle situations differently.
We grow in both grace and wisdom. We learn that not everything is a battle. We learn that keeping quiet at times is important. We learn how to address situations. That is growth. I pray that we are growing into the women of faith God desires us to be.
